The Whispers God Gives // Book Review

Happy Wednesday, y'all! 

Recently I was granted the privilege of being a reader for The Whispers God Gives by Ellen S. Guys, I expected it to be a good devotional, but when I dove into it, I have to say it was beyond what I'd expected (and I'd expected it to be good)....this was the most heartfelt, refreshing, relatable, beautiful, relationship-with-Jesus devotional I have ever read!

Ellen's love for our Savoir shines through every page, and that love transferred to me! She wove together little stories into the passages, little hints to the Bible, so when she got to the main part, it hits hard because it relates! And it's so good.

Ellen writes little stories about her life and spins a lesson out of each of them. Not only do the stories make me smile or laugh, some of them are stories each one of us struggle with every day. Then she brings in the Bible and Jesus and OH GOODNESS, I learned things to practice every day because it came through clear! The lessons are worth listening to, and it made my heart dance for more time with God.

Some devotionals can be really funny, really serious, or really un-relatable. I have a devotional I opened up and felt depressed the moment I read the first passage (and isn't that what devotionals don't want to do?) The Whispers God Gives is not like that at all. I opened it up and was drawn in by the sweet, beautiful way Ellen helps portray things that helped me understand things better, or made me realize I could pursue a certain thing in a different and better way. 

The best thing about The Whispers God Gives is the beauty of Christ's love shining through, and how much it made me feel like I'd been sweltering during a hot summer day, and dunked in a cool pool of water. I came up refreshed and ready to take another step forward. It truly did give me whispers from God. I truly do believe The Whispers God Gives should be on every teen girl's bookshelf.

This book blessed me - it truly did.
