Old Stories Part I: The ABC Generation Series
Howdy everyone!
For the next few weeks, I'll be sharing old stories of mine that are about many different characters, including old Katelyn Reed stories. Each of these stories, however, end abruptly. So, any of you who want to can end the story themselves!
Rules:
1. The ending can't be more than 3,000 words long and has to go over 1,000. Separate your story into chapters, unless it is only fit for one chapter.
2. Please have your story be appropriate for all ages.
3. You don't have to, but the suspicious, creepy man from the airplane in later chapters might be a good person to add into your story . . . if you'd like.
4. Have fun!
Once you've finished your story, email is to 13lovespalominos@gmail.com (my new email address). This is not a contest. Actually, I'll be posting each entry so you can read each different ending, one each weekend.
I'll re-posting these rules after I post Chapter Four.......
You can enter the "contest" part of these posts. If you want, you can ask to have your story be the permanent "ending" for the the Old Story. If there are more than one entries for this question, I will pick the winner who will help spur my plot along. Maybe someday you'll see your story in one of my self-published books! However, if you want this to happen, you'll have to be OK with me editing a little if I see anything I need to change. Don't worry, y'all who don't make it on some stories will have other chances on future Old Stories posts! So keep the stories coming! :D <3
This is something you do not have to do. This is out there so y'all can do it if ya want. If no one wants to, that's totally OK.
Today I'll be posting the first chapter of the ABCs' story. This is a story about three sisters in the summertime going to their grandparents cattle ranch. Their names are Amanda, Brianna, and Cynthia, thus their nickname the ABCs. This series continues with the ABCs daughters and sons, and granddaughters and grandsons, ect. The story has 4 chapters before ending. Then y'all will take over.
I hope y'all enjoy the Old Stories posts!
Amy: Anybody here?

CHAPTER ONE
It was one of those days. The day when life is just dull. For the three Key girls, who called themselves the ABCs, it was especially boring. No school—it was summertime—and no homework, and all the crafts and games had been played already. Everyone was ready for a vacation, but life was too busy for Mom and Dad, both important lawyers.
Amanda Key was thirteen and felt like the only way out was to go hangout with some friends. She telephoned her BFF, Kristi Moors, and was told that Kristi was in Alaska.
Alaska! Amy groaned and threw herself onto her bed. Are all my friends vacationing? She rolled around and stared hard at the ceiling. Maybe she should get on the computer. Maybe her friend Henry had stayed here, in California, and they could chat. She pulled up her chatbox.
Amy: Anybody here?
Henry: Yo
Amy: Hi! So not all of my friends are on vacation.
Henry: Lol, Amy. I’m in San Diego.
Henry: No way!
Henry: Yes way! It is so cool over here.
Amy: Aw, I’m jealous! I’m stuck at home while Mom and Dad work!
Henry: Sorry. Gtg. Mom’s callin’. See ya!
Amy sighed and watched Henry's icon disappear. She closed her eyes and decided to daydream. Off she went, dreaming of dolphins and adventures and plenty of other things. That is, she did this until a loud voice cut into her musings.
“AMY! EARTH TO AMY!”
Amy jolted from Lala Land and found herself looking into twelve-year-old Brianna’s eyes.
“Come on, sis,” said Bri. “Mom and Dad are home and have a surprise.”
“A vacation?” Amy asked, jumping from bed and latching hands with her little sister.
“Hope so.” Bri and Amy stepped out of the room, walked down the hallway a little, and stopped short. Eleven-year-old Cindy bounced on her toes in the hallway near the stairs, eyes sparkling. “Guess what, guess what?” shrieked Cindy, her dark braid slapping her back. “Mom’s gonna have a ba—”
Dad charged up the stairs and stopped her, clasping his hand around her mouth. “Hold your horses, Cynthia,” he chuckled. He dropped his hand and took his daughters’ hands, looking at the bewildered Amy and Bri. “You two come sit down.”
They walked downstairs and into the living room. Amy and Bri sat down, still wildly befuddled. Cindy went nuts and that scared Amy. Sure, Cindy always seemed crazy, but she never went insane.
Now Mom sat down and looked them in the eye. “We know how much you ABCs have wanted to go do something ‘summer-ish.’ But your father and I have had—and still have—lots of lawyer-stuff, as you call it, to finish and that has made our summer hectic. However, Bruce and I got a call from your grandparents in Texas, ” she began. “That means we can really start our summer.”
“What?” said Bri. “Where do our grandparents fit in?”
“That’ll be your vacation,” said Dad. “Your grandpa and grandma live there on a cattle ranch. They said you should come up and learn some cowboy skills.”
“Without us,” Mom added. “Just you three.”
“Why not you guys?” Amy asked, still befuddled. A cattle ranch?
“Well . . .” Mom drew out the word with a long smile. “You’re father and I . . . well . . . we can’t come, because the vacation is going into September.”
“So?” Bri shot a perplexed look at Cindy, who squealed.
“And?” Cindy pressed, flopping onto the couch with enthusiasm.
“Wait a minute.” Amy gasped, suddenly remembering Cindy’s cut-off announcement upstairs. “Are you going to have a baby?” She directed her question at Mom.
Dad beamed. “Our little blessing is due at the end of August.”
Bri and Amy shot from their chairs and grabbed hold of Cindy. They whirled around the kitchen, whooping and hollering. One more month! One more month and they’d have a baby—
“Sister or brother,” demanded Amy, stopping the whirlabout. Cindy and Bri slammed into her. She stumbled forward and caught herself on the couch, still staring at her parents.
“Sister,” said their father. “We’ll name her Jenny.”
“Jenny,” whispered the ABCs. “Beautiful.”
“Jenny Eliana Key,” Mom announced. She grinned. “I hope you’re happy.”
“We are, Momma, we are!” the three girls cried and threw themselves at her.
Why didn’t I notice sooner? thought Amy. I could have. She’s been pregnant eight months! Her belly’s huge. She glanced at her father, who winked. Of course. They kept it well hidden and I’ve been too worried about vacations, school, and other stuff.
It doesn’t matter. Amy kissed her mother’s cheek. “This is the best summer ever!” she crowed. Push HERE to go to Part 1 of Chapter 2
